Are Coworking Spaces Worth It? Yes!

Updated: Mar 11, 2021

People often ask me why I have a membership at a coworking space if I can just work from home. Well, it's not easy to get much done when you have people, pets, and things distracting you every five minutes. I used to love going to my local coffee shop almost on a daily basis, but started getting tired of spending so much on food/drinks (and then smelling like coffee beans for the rest of the day). So I started looking for affordable coworking spaces nearby, and chose to join 25N Coworking in Frisco since they’re conveniently located only 10 minutes from my house and offer a discounted student monthly membership. Every dollar has been worth the access to the beautiful working space that 25N offers.

First of all, I’m a part-time graduate student, part-time marketing freelancer. All of my academic, career, and personal tasks are done from the comfort of my laptop. You may or may not be in a similar situation, but if you are, the biggest benefit you get from a coworking space membership is a distraction-free working environment.

What makes up a perfect working environment? Besides the energy of everyone around you focusing on getting things done, one of my favorite things about a membership at 25N is the unlimited coffee, tea, infused water, and snacks. On top of that, there is plenty of seating (including booths with pillows) and great lighting (natural and artificial) - I’ve never struggled to find a comfortable place to sit (while remaining socially distanced from others). This alone has saved me countless distractions that I would have had at home and increased my overall productivity.

Some of the other amenities, which are accessible 24/7 with a free app, include a kitchen (with a fridge, microwave, and dishwasher), multiple phone booths, an area with printing and writing supplies, a small HIIT gym, and a bathroom that’s always sparkling clean (it even includes a shower!) Basically, there’s nothing that you can get from home (besides a bed or stovetop/oven) that you can’t get here.

What I really love about 25N are the friendly community managers who work at the front desk during the week. They welcome you, answer any questions, and keep everything running smoothly. The 25N Frisco location also has a wall with everyone’s photo (along with photos of their dogs!), and a Slack workspace (to communicate anything important, such as ordering lunches).

There are many types of memberships available at 25N - you can even rent your own desk or office space. There are also several Covid discounts that you should take advantage of as soon as possible. The best way to decide what the best option is for you is to visit the actual location and see for yourself! At 25N, you can try it out for a day (for free!) to get a feel for what it’s like working here.

Of course, let me know if you have any questions, and I’d be happy to share more of my experience with you.
